Emotional Bubbles
February 2023
"Emotional Bubbles" is a hypothetical product line of Inside Out emotions-themed soaps. The emotion I chose to represent was Sadness, accompanied with a Blueberry scent. She takes the form of a Pedestal Box with the inside containing a circular core memory soap.

Sketches
Originally, I had started this project wanting to create a vintage soap packaging based on the language of flowers to represent emotions. However, I was unsatisfied with the results and brainstormed further. I made the connection with Emotions – then to Inside Out.
Iterations
Pictured above are multiple versions of the packaging I created and then made revisions such as the stroke weight, box size, hair part, among other things. On the bottom row is the final version of the box printed out and assembled.
Dieline
This is the dieline template I used to print out my final prototype.

Takeaways
This was intended to be a speed assignment but my main takeaways from it were the importance of challenging yourself and prototyping.
Challenging yourself:
I was not entirely satisfied with the first direction of the project, so I scrapped it and started over.
Be at the whim of the creative process and let it take you where you need to go.
Keep working at something until you are happy with every aspect of it and are excited to share it with others.
Prototyping:
When creating a physical project, it is important to print it out at multiple stages to troubleshoot.
It helps you understand how the audience will view your project and gain another perspective.
